Report to Governor & General Assembly due Oct. 1, 2021 (Chapter 207, Acts of 2020; Chapters 413 & 414, Acts of 2021).

In July 2020, the Task Force on the Economic Future of Western Maryland was established by the General Assembly (Chapter 207, Acts of 2020).

The Task Force first will study the current economic situation in Western Maryland. Then, it is to consider and make recommendations for improving the local economies of Allegany, Garrett and Washington counties. This will include how to strengthen technology-based and tourism-based industries in Western Maryland, and how to overcome barriers to the expansion of small businesses in the area.

Authorization for the Task Force was to end June 30, 2021, but was extended to December 31, 2021 (Chapters 413 and 414, Acts of 2021).
