In 2019, Maryland workers averaged a per capita income of $64,640 a year, higher than the national average of $56,490 a year. That year, Maryland workers were paid about $1,211 per week, the seventh highest salary in the nation, while the national average was approximately $1,086 per week.

As of January 1, 2020, the minimum wage in Maryland for most workers is $11 an hour, while the federally-mandated minimum wage remains at $7.25 an hour. For tipped employees, the Maryland minimum cash-wage is $3.63 an hour, though this amount plus tips must at least equal Maryland's Minimum Wage Rate.
